Project History

Fallout 4: New Vegas is a modding project with the goal to bring the full Fallout: New Vegas experience to Fallout 4 remade in the Creation Engine 2.0 using Fallout 4’s Creation Kit. Work started in the summer of 2017, and work on the project is still going to this day. Each October, the team does a showcase highlighting some of the work done so far on the project, and no release date has been set as of yet.

The Workflow

To enable my work on Fallout 4: New Vegas, I use the Fallout 4 Creation Kit and Fallout: New Vegas’ GECK toolset. When recreating an interior, I use the New Vegas’ GECK Toolset; by doing this, I can get a feeling of how large each interior was, the exact design of the level, the placement of NPC and enemy creatures, where terminals and safes are placed within it and what skill levels the player needs to be able to hack or lockpick these terminals or safes. While doing this, I also use Fallout 4’s Creation Kit at the same time to recreate what I see in the GECK Toolset to the best of my ability.

New Locations

I’ve designed a few new locations around the area of Goodsprings that the player can explore. These new locations are inspired by Goodsprings rich mining history and allow the player to search for a long lost unmarked treasure quest left behind by some Goodspring miners after the great war. This should provide players with a chance to secure a bit of extra loot and experience before setting off in the wider Mojave Wasteland.

The Online Studio

Fallout 4: New Vegas consists of 149 team members worldwide; all bring their own unique skills sets and ideas to the project. We use various tools such as GitHub, Trello, GitLab, Discord and Google docs to effectively communicate with each other and allow us to bring one of the games we love to a newer engine while keeping true to the Fallout: New Vegas experience.

Goodsprings

Goodsprings is where it all started and where the first assets were placed within our WorldSpace. Everything you see within this screenshot I contributed too.

 
 

Victors Shack

I recreated Victors Shack, this was one of the very first interior cells to created and faithfully remade within the mod.

Goodsprings & Surrounding Area

I and SpaceTimeBender both worked on the surrounding area of Goodsprings while she handled the terrain I placed foliage, roads and rocks as well as create a few new locations in and around the town of Goodsprings.
